These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Quick Return service operated by Quick Return Ltd. ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using our service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. The Service
Quick Return provides QR code tags that can be attached to personal belongings. When scanned, the QR code displays item and contact information to help reunite lost items with their owners. We offer a free tier and a premium subscription with additional features.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You may register items on behalf of children or vulnerable adults in your care. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
3. Your Account
- You must provide accurate and up-to-date information when registering.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Free Plan
The free plan allows you to register items, display contact information when your QR code is scanned, set safe drop-off locations, and add multiple emergency contacts. Scan events are logged but SMS notifications and location tracking are not included.
5. Premium Subscription
The premium plan is available at the price shown on our subscribe page (currently £3.99/month). Premium features include:
- Instant SMS scan notifications
- Location tracking of scans (with their consent)
- Phone number masking (secure relay)
- Anonymous calls and texts via Quick Return
- Full scan history with timestamps
Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You may cancel at any time and your premium features will remain active until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial months.
6. QR Code Tags
- QR codes are linked to your account and the item you register them to.
- Each QR code can only be registered to one item at a time.
- You are responsible for attaching tags securely to your belongings.
- We are not responsible for tags that become damaged, lost, or unreadable.
7. Scanning & How It Works
When someone scans a Quick Return QR code:
- They will see the item name, type, notes, and contact details you have chosen to display.
- If you are a premium subscriber with phone masking enabled, your real phone number is hidden.
- We do not guarantee that your items will be returned. Quick Return is a communication tool, not a guarantee of item recovery.
- We are not responsible for the actions or intentions of anyone who scans your tag.
8. Bulk Scanning
Our bulk scan feature allows organisations (schools, venues, etc.) to scan multiple QR codes and notify all owners at once. No login is required to use the bulk scanner. SMS notifications are only sent to premium subscribers with notifications enabled.
9. Third-Party Contact Details
You may add contact details for other people (such as a partner, carer, or family member) to your item profiles. By doing so, you confirm that:
- You have obtained that person's explicit consent to share their name and phone number via the Quick Return service.
- That person understands their details will be visible to anyone who scans your QR code (unless phone masking is enabled with a premium subscription).
- You are responsible for keeping their information accurate and removing it promptly if they withdraw consent.
Quick Return acts as a data processor for third-party contact details you provide. We rely on you, as the account holder, to ensure you have a lawful basis (consent) to share another person's personal data through our service. You agree to indemnify Quick Return against any claims arising from your sharing of third-party contact information without proper consent.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Register items that do not belong to you
- Upload offensive, abusive, or illegal content
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Use the service to harass, stalk, or threaten any person
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
- Scrape, crawl, or automated-access the service without permission
11. Intellectual Property
All content, design, and code on the Quick Return website and app are owned by Quick Return Ltd. or its licensors. You retain ownership of the photos and information you upload, but grant us a licence to display them as part of the service (e.g. showing item photos when your QR code is scanned).
12. No Guarantee of Reunion or Recovery
Quick Return is a communication tool designed to help connect finders with owners. It is not a tracking device, a security system, or a guarantee that any lost item, person, or animal will be found or returned.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- We cannot guarantee that anyone will scan your QR code, or that a finder will take any action after scanning it.
- We cannot guarantee the delivery of SMS notifications, emails, or chat messages. These depend on third-party services (Twilio, Resend) and mobile network availability, which are outside our control.
- We cannot guarantee the accuracy of location data shared during a scan. GPS accuracy varies by device and environment.
- We are not responsible for the actions, behaviour, or intentions of any person who scans your tag or interacts with the service.
- Quick Return is not a substitute for proper supervision of children, vulnerable adults, or animals. Parents, carers, and pet owners remain solely responsible for the safety and wellbeing of those in their care at all times.
- The use of a Quick Return wristband, tag, or sticker on a child or vulnerable adult does not transfer any duty of care to Quick Return Ltd., any finder, or any third party.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Quick Return is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or reliability.
- We do not guarantee the return of any lost item, person, or animal.
- We are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, distress, or any other harm arising from the use of, or inability to use, our service, including but not limited to:
- Failure of a QR code to be scanned or read
- Failure of notifications to be delivered
- Failure of a finder to respond, return an item, or act in good faith
- Any technical failure, service outage, or system error
- The actions or inactions of any third party, including finders, carriers, and service providers
- Loss of or damage to any tagged item
- Any situation involving a missing child, vulnerable adult, or animal where Quick Return was used but did not result in reunification
- Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Phone Number Privacy Limitations
While Quick Return masks your phone number during calls and texts, there are situations outside our control where your real number may still be exposed. For example:
- Your voicemail greeting may include your phone number. If a call is forwarded to voicemail, the caller may hear it.
- Your carrier may display your number in caller ID settings or callbacks.
- Third-party apps on your phone may reveal your number.
We strongly recommend checking your voicemail greeting and removing your phone number from it if you use Quick Return's phone masking feature. Quick Return is not responsible for any disclosure of your phone number caused by your device settings, carrier, or voicemail configuration.
15. SMS Notifications
SMS notifications are sent via third-party providers and are subject to network availability. We do not guarantee delivery or delivery times. Standard message rates from your mobile provider may apply. You can disable scan notifications per item from your dashboard.
16. Location Data
Location tracking is an optional premium feature. When enabled, the person who scans your tag is asked for permission to share their location. Location data is approximate and depends on their device and consent. We are not responsible for the accuracy of location data.
17. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Any active premium subscription will be cancelled. QR codes previously linked to your account will show as unregistered.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
